The Artists' Development Initiative presents an evening of three new works from two very distinct choreographers, Cathy Seago and Maresa von Stockert. Seago, in two short pieces, will focus on the purist's concern for movement and its innate rhythms, while von Stockert will play with the manipulation of the perceptions of balance both physical and theatrical. The performances, introducing dancers from both their Companies, will extend the richly diverse range of new works shown at the Royal Opera House.
Versolos pays homage to pre-classic, classic and modern dance forms, saturating the dichotomy between simultaneous solos and group tradition. Clarity of craft traverses, revisits and reconsiders the inherent structural and rhythmic role of the 'solo'.
The Four of the 5th - Unremitting, un-crowded and unmelodic, the trio discloses a single rhythmic motif of
The four of the 5th. This vigorous revelation is rhetorically direct and without ornamental foliage in its unerring belief of its point of departure.
Like Nobody's Business is the newest 30 minute contemporary dance piece by award-winning choreographer Maresa von Stockert. The work investigates physical and mental states of being off balance featuring four male dancers defying the laws of gravity and moving at the edge of sanity. With an eye for the absurd and tragicomic moments in life, Maresa von Stockert combines vivid theatrical imagination with unpredictable, challenging movement.
