Wise birds, harbingers of death, symbols of the divine and diabolical, crows hold powerful sway over the human imagination. In a beautiful duet featuring movement, free-form jazz and a barrel full of lustrous, inky black paint, Josef Nadj and Akosh Szelevényi evoke the spirit, and presence, of this most mysterious of creatures. At its climax, in an extraordinary process of transformation, Nadj becomes simultaneously paintbrush, bird and the essence of blackness itself. Josef Nadj's work has been a highlight of the London International Mime Festival's programmes since his Woyzeck in 1999, most recently with Spanish artist Miquel Barceló in the LIMF/Barbican Bite08 co-presentation of Paso Doble, subsequently performed at the Venice Biennale. He is a painter, sculptor, photographer, dancer and director for France's National Choreographic Centre in Orléans. Akosh Szelevényi composes music for theatre, dance and circus, and has collaborated with Josef Nadj since 2003 on numerous. Running time: Approx 1hr - no interval
