La La La Human Steps owe their international reputation and numerous awards to the unique choreographic language developed and constantly reinvented by company founder and artistic director, Edouard Lock. Altered structures of ballet within a complex amalgamation of choreography, music and film are the main ingredients of the Lock style. Amjad is Lock's interpretation of Swan Lake but this is poite shoes and ballet with a starling contemporary twist. His dancers seem to move faster than the speed of light as jumps and gestures snap through space, their bodies twisting both horizontally and vertically. All this accompanied by an on-stage quartet of piano and strings playing the music of Gavin Bryars, David Lang and Blake Hargreaves. Running time approx. 1hr 45mins (no interval)
