Rich Mix is hosting two dance pieces by Brazilian-born Jean Abreu, one of Britain’s most eagerly watched choreographers. Alenda Solitude is a solo piece created by Jean Abreu and devised together with outstanding performer Paula Conduit, linking the mystical world of myths and legends with present day reality to create a profound work that looks at our capacity to let go and change. Dialogo (Dialogue), a duet between Abreu and musician Anselmo Netto, investigates the intimate relationship between sound and movement in at attempt to expose the unseen, intuitive link between the two art forms. Jean was a founder member of Protein Dance, creating roles in 'Portrait' with Group & Duck, 'Publife' and 'The Banquet'. His skills as a dancer in contemporary, Latin American and martial art forms (Capoeira) inform his unique choreographic style giving it a feline grace, a sense of contained power and a razor sharp precision. His choreography deals sensitively and eloquently with modern day human concerns, and as such appeals to a broad range of ages and audiences. These two performances are supported by Arts Council England, East, DanceEast, New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and Swindon Dance. Jean Abreu is supported by The Hat Factory.
