Hofesh Shechter Company - Hofesh Shechter & Friends archiveSadler's Wells Associate Artist Hofesh Shechter is one of the UK's most exciting contemporary artists, having gained international renown for his raw, honest choreography and highly-charged, atmospheric music scores. The international dancers of Hofesh Shechter Company have achieved worldwide renown World Premiere. Hofesh Shechter and the talented artists he works with present a loud, smoky collision of music and dance just the way they like it - exclusively for HOME. The evening gives audiences the first look at Shechter's new short work, the second part of a trilogy that features dancers from his world-class ensemble. Known as The Bad, this piece for five dancers will be accompanied by a dark and funky score featuring dubstep grooves alongside his trademark percussive electronics. Joel Harries, one of Shechter's most recognisable musicians, having played live with the Company around the world, takes the stage to perform a live gig in the second part of the evening with three piece instrumental band, 72% Morrissey. We open the evening with a rare glimpse of Shechter's first work, Fragments, an atmospheric look at relationships with an ironic twist that brought him to the attention of the dance world. Once performed by Shechter himself, he now invites two members of his newly formed apprentice programme to demonstrate their extraordinary talent. On Thursday 30 April the celebrations continue after the world premiere performance, as Hofesh Shechter Company dancer and performer in The Bad, Maeva Berthelot, will take the groove into the night in a post-show DJ set.
