Since he burst onto the scene in 1996, Henri Oguike has become a leading force in dance. Combining technical virtuosity with the immediacy of live music, his work has won numerous awards and given a creative blood transfusion to the world of contemporary dance. By turns thundering and gentle, visceral and flirtatious, the work of this dynamic young company.
Front Line - Qguike's signature piece is a sextet danced to Shostakovich's 9th Quartet in E Flat. The moods of the music are constantly shifting. The instruments squeal like animals and engage in wild stamping dances.
Dido and Aeneas, inspired by Purcell's operatic masterpiece, is a powerful new work telling the story of two lovers thwarted by fate.
F.P.S. (Frames Per Second) Parts 1 - This exquisite solo, danced by Oguike and made in collaboration with lighting designer Guy Hoare, traces the relationship between movment, light and sound.
F.P.S. Part 1 is set to the Kronos Quartet's string version of Bill Evan's Piece Peace.
Finale This celebratory work for the whole company is set to the Latin-rhythms of French composer, Rene Aubry.
