Details
Fresh is an evening of dance with and for young people. Uniquely at
Fresh, dynamic youth companies share the bill with top professional artists. The unbeatable programme of bite-sized works in Fresh 2009 includes Carrie Whitaker's moving solo for Lîla Dance, Darren Ellis's virtuoso combination of dance and drumming and electric works by Tom Dale and James Cousins. Also on show are a selection of the country's best youth dance works, performed by Cornwall Youth Dance, Instep Dance Company, St Marylebone Youth Dance and The Place's own Shift. The evening begins with a DJ from London's Roundhouse in the theatre bar from 6pm, and a site-specific performance by Cando2 in the Founders' Studio. Fresh is accompanied by Unwrapped, special pre-show workshops where young dancers can learn first-hand from the pros. This year there are three workshops - Lîla Dance on choreography (4.30pm), Darren Ellis takes a drumming and performance workshop (2pm) and Tom Dale leads you through his latest piece (4.30pm).
