Fleur Darkin Company is dedicated to creating a space in culture which is not economically or politically indebted to compromise or petty realism. A space that does not reproduce dominant forms, but creates dance that is led by and celebrates the boldest act: imagination. An intimate work that brings audience and performer together, DISGO offers a truly unique performance experience. In the first major work for her company since the critically acclaimed Augustine in 2007, choreographer Fleur Darkin invites audiences into the heart of the dance space to transform the way they see choreography. For 40 minutes the audience shares centre stage with the company’s five dancers. They stand and move in circles and lines while the dancers perform a series of intensely physical encounters around them, in breathtaking close-up. DISGO includes participation from local dance groups and individuals who initiate the audience’s movement around the stage.
