English National Ballet - Tour de Force - Trapeze Facing Viv/Grand Pas (from Paquita) archiveOne of the UK's leading Ballet Companies. An exceptional programme of new ballets showcasing the brilliance of some of the finest dancers in the world.. Cathy Marston is a rising star of British choreography. Her first work for English National Ballet, Facing Viv, is her response to T.S. Eliot’s epic poem, The Waste Land. A combination of fluidity and off-kilter shapes that push the furthest boundaries of dance, she utilises six dancers to represent the different dynamics and moods of Eliot’s relationship with his wife, Viv. Trapeze, by Barclays TMA Theatre Award-Winning choreographer Christopher Hampson, uses Prokofiev’s rediscovered music for a ballet to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the composer's death. This vibrant and challenging score is the foundation for Hampson’s new dynamic work. Paquita, a classical ballet-lovers dream. The spectacular tutus, glittering tiaras and dazzling display of classical ballet technique make this ballet a firm favourite with all who see it. Twelve of English National Ballet's world-class dancers create a spectacular display of technical skills that build to a breathtaking climax of ballet at its best. English National Ballet website.
