Details
This is contemporary dance at its most visceral. As Greco's and Scholten's latest work delves into the world of the corporeal, it searches to extend the boundaries of physical identity and unleash the unpredictability of the human body. Fiercely physical, the production explores the different ways that dance can be perceived, breaking down notions of 'hell' and rebuilding its meaning. Hell draws on the visual and performing arts and literature, specifically Dante's Inferno and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. By tilting the points of perspective, new meaning is added to these works and questions posed about life itself. Hell marks the tenth anniversary of Greco's and Scholten's artistic collaboration. Their productions often deconstruct celebrated pieces of music, including Ravel's Bolero and Vivaldi's Four Seasons in order to give them new meaning. They expose a shared interest in the possibility of dance being the expression of a visionary body. The company has toured internationally and received numerous awards, including the Time Out London Live Award for Double Points: 1 & 2 (Bite03). Contains nudity. 100 mins/no interval
