A Transgender Tragedy Inspired by Puccinis Madame Butterfly, Mariposa is an operatic dance drama that transports Puccini's Orientalist libretto to post-revolution Cuba, to a dockland world of faded showgirls, hopeful rent boys, troubled sailors and santeria spirits.
