Details

The critically acclaimed Ballet Black strive to honour the traditions of classical ballet while breaking new ground with cutting-edge choreography. Now an essential part of the classical ballet landscape, the company is the perfect showcase for dancers of black and Asian descent, providing them with a platform on which to perform and practise their craft. Unsurprisingly, Ballet Black attracts dancers, choreographers and designers from around the world. Ballet Black will present a mixed bill of premieres from some of the most exciting British choreographic talent today: Running Silent, a unique solo created by Jonathan Goddard (Rambert Dance Company), a new duet from Jonathan Watkins (The Royal Ballet) to specially composed music by Alex Baranowski, and Martin Lawrence (creator of Pendulum for Ballet Black) returns with his new quartet, Captured. They will debut their exciting new ballet, Storyville, a dark tale of love, corruption and survival set in the nightclubs of 1900's New Orleans, by renowned choreographer Christopher Hampson.
