Details

Involving students, aged twelve to fifteen, from three Croydon Schools - Coloma Girls School; Edenham High School and Westwood High School, the Blueprint 2000 Project has been running since the beginning of April this year. In collaboration with 16 artists from the resident companies of the Royal Opera House and its Education Department, the students have, through the exploration of music, dance, drama and singing, investigated themes and ideas around the human face. Leading to the creation and subsequent performance of a new piece, the project involves a wide range of artists including Royal Ballet choreographer William Tuckett, composer Rachel Leach, designer Bob Bailey and four professional writers. William Tuckett has choreographed numerous ballets for The Royal Ballet, including his recent production of The Crucible. He will be choreographing a section of the performance and will also be working with the students on creating other sections of the work. The project will be directed by Jo Davies and the musical director is Daniel Jackson. Called About Face, it will feature specially commissioned work, inspired by the students' ideas, and work devised and/or written by the group. About Face will be performed by a company of over 70 people made up of both students and professional artists in the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House. Supported by Sir Peter Michael CBE and the D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.
