The Shout - Sea Tongue archiveSea Tongue begins calmly in port with Derek Walcott's beautiful poem A Sea Chantey. In a wave of human voices, it sets sail into a wild storm of familiar and strange stories: fishing expeditions, the Marie Celeste, slave ships, pirates, the Battleship Potemkin, whaling expeditions, the Titanic, the sinking of the Kursk submarine, intrepid explorers and abandoned ships. Orlando Gough and Richard Chew are the UK's leading contemporary composers. Cast includes 200 local singers, 30 ballroom dancers, 5 speakers, 4 pianists and percussionist Gile Perring Over 200 people have come together to sing open the De La Warr Pavilion.
