The Musicals - Now and Then archiveThis show pays tribute to some of the greatest songwriters of this century - songwriters like Irving Berlin, whose prolific output has spanned most ot the twentieth century with such wonderful musicals as 'Annie Get Your Gun'. Cole Porter, who probably wrote more 'standards' than any other modern composer, but is maybe most famous for his Shakespeare romp 'Kiss Me Kate'. Then there are Lerner and Loewe with unforgettable shows like 'Gigi'. Coming right up-to-date, we have Stephen Sondheim, composer of such modern masterpieces as 'Follies' and 'Into the Woods', and Alain Boubil and Claude - Michel Schoenberg whose adaptation of 'Les Miserables' has become a theatrical legend. Add 'Oliver', 'Anne', 'Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat', 'Mack and Mabel', 'Barnum', 'Chicago', to name but a few and you have an evening of sparkling entertainment and great, great music.
