The Etta James Songbook archiveIn 1938 a fourteen-year-old African American girl gave birth to a baby daughter and named her Jamesette Hawkins, who became known to the world as Etta James and affectionately referred to as Peaches. Over the years Etta influenced a number of artists of all genres. In the UK, The Rolling Stones, and younger artistes, Amy Winehouse and Josh Stone. America holds Etta high in their top rankings of artists, winning 4 Grammy's for her music. Etta bridged the gap between Soul, Rhythm & Blues, and Jazz. Artists such as Beth Hart, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce Knowles - her role as Etta in the film Cadillac Records have introduced a whole new generation to her music. The Etta James Songbook is present by New Zealand's Queen of Song MaKuini (MaQueenie), who sings Etta's best loved songs including: Something's Got A Hold On Me, Tell Mama, Pushover. I Just Want To Make Love To You, I'd Rather Go Blind, Good Rockin Daddy, from the HSBC television advert, the Northern Soul Classic, Seven Day Fool, to her signature song At Last and more.
