This concert marks the European debut for this exciting Japanese American taiko group from Los Angeles who have been setting the taiko world alight with their fresh and vibrant approach to the art form. No strangers to the big stage, they performed at the Grammys in February this year. In 2010, they played with Stevie Wonder and 30 Seconds to Mars, performed at the 2009 Academy Awards, and also featured in commercials for Mitsubishi and Nike. In 2005, they made history by becoming the first foreign group to win the Annual Tokyo International Taiko Contest. To begin the show, celebrated WOMAD recording artist Joji Hirota will perform an Opening Ceremony, playing the largest taiko drum in the country.
