Details

A compelling music drama, the St John Passion leads us through Christ's final days, culminating in his trial, crucifixion and burial. The biblical text remains at the heart of the work, set to music as fluid and powerful as operatic recitative. This is complemented by the soloists' contemplative arias and the chorus's hauntingly beautiful chorales. Bach's version of the St John Passion which commemorates Holy Week 2000 and the 250th anniversary of Bach's death.
