An evening of impassioned orchestral favourites, deeply infused with the sounds and rhythms of Spain. Rodrigo’s ever-popular Concierto de Aranjeuz is full of Iberian sunshine and tender melodies - a worthy centrepiece to this concert, and the perfect contrast to De Falla’s wild Ritual Fire Dance. The remainder of the programme sees works from great French, Russian and Italian composers, which wonderfully demonstrate the extent to which Spanish music has inspired classical composers the world-over.
