A weekend of rare & beautiful works by Ralph Vaughan Williams & his friends to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death in 1958. RVW lived and worked in Holmbury St Mary and the Dorking area, so this festival is particularly appropriate. Some of the works are rarely performed, and there will be 2 premieres of RVW’s early works. Listen to wonderful music in a pastoral setting. "The acoustic of the concert hall is second to none" - Classic FM magazine 2004, and overlooks the gardens & lake. The first day of the festival consists of: 14/06 at 3pm - Vocal concert including works by RVW, Ireland, Butterworth, Warlock, Howells 14/06 at 6pm - Talk - French Fever - The influence of Ravel on RVW 14/06 at 7pm - Concert for Violin & Piano. Works by RVW & Ravel. The 2nd day of the festival consists of: 15/06 at 3pm - Concert for piano, solo & duet. Works by RVW, Holst, Ireland 15/06 at 6pm - Talk - RVW - An English Composer 15/06 at 7pm - Concert for voice & strings. Works by RVW. Cream teas, strawberries, canapés & champagne will be available, but you are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the idyllic gardens.
