Part of the BBC Proms. David Hill conducts the an early and a late work respectively by two centenary composers. Britten's A Boy was Born was written when the composer was just 19 years old and first broadcast on the day of Edward Elgar's death. It is shot through with what John Bridcut described in his book, Britten's Children, as 'an apparently childlike simplicity'. George Lloyd's Requiem, written in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, receives its London premiere. There will be no interval. Frinish time: approx. 23:30
