Donald Runnicles makes his first Proms appearance as Chief Conductor of tonight's orchestra in an all-British programme featuring former BBC Young Musician of the Year Nicola Benedetti in her Proms debut. Proms founder-conductor Henry Wood gave the world premiere of Serenade to Music at his Jubilee Concert in 1938; tonight's singers are from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
