Details
Part of the BBC Proms. Celebrating his 85th birthday this year, Sir Charles Mackerras presides over a late-night pairing of two composers who conjured luscious sounds for wind ensembles, and (as one of the leading interpreters of Czech music) teases out a Dvorak thread following the symphony of this evening's earlier Prom. Sir Charles brings members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra - of which is now Conductor Laureate, having served as Principal Guest Conductor from 1992 to 1995. His long association with the ensemble has produced acclaimed recordings of repertoire from Mozart operas to Brahms symphonies. Finish time: approx. 23:30
