Part of the BBC Proms. Even while Bach's great Passions languished unheard for almost a century after his death (until revived by Mendelssohn), his motets continued to be sung by the Leipzig choirs for which they were written. Few modern performers know Bach's music as intimately as Sir John Eliot Gardiner and his hand-picked ensemble and choir. There will be no interval. Approx. end time: 23:30
