Details
A concert from the BBC Proms. Hope and grief, mourning and celebration, thunder and tenderness come together in Verdi's mighty Requiem. After two years of reduced-sized performances, the Royal Albert Hall once again rings with the massed voices of the BBC Symphony Chorus and Crouch End Festival Chorus, launching the 2022 Proms with this choral masterpiece, which brings all the high drama of 19th-century opera to its emotive setting of the Latin Mass for the Dead. The BBC SO and Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo are joined by a starry team of young soloists that includes BBC Cardiff Singer of the World prize-winning soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha and rising British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso.
