Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment - Queens, Heroines and Ladykillers: Three eras of divas archiveThe OAE is much more than one of the world's pre-eminent period instrument ensembles. It works regularly with conductors who specialise in both early music and the modern repertoire, and has explored the work of composers from Bach to Mahler, Handel to Borodin. The OAE's Queens, Heroines and Ladykillers series opens with Sir Roger Norrington and top soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci. Star soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci joins the OAE for this concert that opens both the Orchestra's 2012/13 season and the Queens, Heroines and Ladykillers series. She sings three arias spanning three different musical eras, including an aria by Cherubini made famous by Maria Callas, and a touching yet powerful aria from Berlioz. Also in the programme is Gluck's viscerally thrilling Dance of the Furies and Bizet's fresh and uninhibited Symphony in C. Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment website.
