The Northern Sinfonia returns to Keswick with a programme that combines the music and traditions of the baroque and tango: Bach's suite for flute and strings is paired with Astor Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, a kind of homage both to the tango and to Vivaldi. Bach's influence is felt again in two of Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras suites, with a band of eight cellos plus the distinguished young soprano Katherine Manley.
