Presented by Serious Sampler. The project combines a swirling digital flow of western dance music with modern mbira (thumb piano) melodies, culminating in a new musical hybrid of sounds and influences from both continents. Kate McKenzie has a long history of working with Zimbabwean artists, helping to establish the Chimanimani Arts Festival. Her music is inspired by the remote and beautiful area of rainforest on the Zimbabwean / Mozambique border and a physical and spiritual approach to the voice.
