Annibale Pio Fabri, Francesco Borosini and John Beard were the superstar tenors of the 18th century who inspired many Baroque composers such as Handel to write for them - or, in a time dominated by the castrati, to transpose title roles to accommodate their voices. Ian Bostridge, one of the leading tenors of our time, performs a selection of these arias together with Europa Galante, led by their director Fabio Biondi. As well as works by Handel, the programme includes arias by Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Caldara and Boyce.
