This concert commemorates the seventh anniversary of the death of the extraordinary Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev - a homage to the majesty and passion of Nureyev and to ballet's 'enchanted kingdom'. A selection from Tchaikovsky's
Sleeping Beautyand
Swan Lake,
Raimonda by Glazunov and ending with music from
Romeo and Juliet, will evoke this great dancer. Also taking part in the concert will be the celebrated bass, Nicolai Ghiaurov, who will be singing arias from
Eugene Onegin and
Boris Godunov, and a violinist, child prodigy Alina Ibragimove, from Moscow.
