Created by Music Fellow Matthew Rooke. A concert performance of a fascinating work in development. Taking its name from an exuberant form of renaissance Scottish poetry Flyting explores Scotland s relationship with Africa. Starting at the fabulous court of James IV, music and song put new flesh on the bones of history, across the centuries and right up to the present day. Bringing together classical strings, operatic and traditional voices to blend African, Scottish and contemporary music forms, Flyting asks the question "wha s like us?" and finds some perhaps unexpected answers.
