The works of Frank Bridge were championed especially by his more famous pupil, Benjamin Britten, who loved this ‘Phantasy' quartet, and played it frequently. William Walton was a student at Oxford when he wrote his brilliant piano quartet. It is a precocious work that shows Walton's early love for the music of Herbert Howells and Ravel.
