Deaf School - The Eric Shark Tribute Show archiveDeaf School formed at Liverpool College of Art in 1974, won the Melody Maker competition in 1975, recorded three albums for Warner Brothers, three John Peel sessions and toured extensively in the UK and America until disbanding in 1978. In January, came the very sad news that Sam Davies, aka Eric Shark, of Deaf School, one of Liverpool's most iconic and truly legendary bands, had passed away. Poignantly Sam’s last Deaf School gig was at the Everyman last September when they played four shows to celebrate returning to Hope Street, where the band formed 35 years ago. Eric holds a very special place in the hearts of the band and its fans and what better way to celebrate his huge contribution to Deaf School than by the band and his friends singing Eric's songs (and a few more). Joining Deaf School at these special shows will be Kevin Rowland, Suggs, Ian Broudie, Lee Thompson, Pete Wylie, Tina Sparkle, plus an extra special appearance by Deaf School original band member Paul Pilnick. And David Knopov is Perfectly Frank. Once again the Everyman will be transformed into cabaret style seating. Deaf School website.
