Undoubtedly one of the major quartets of today, the Borodin String Quartet was formed in 1945 by students from the Moscow Conservatorire. In 1995 the Quartet celebrated their 50th anniversary, and received medals of honour from the Concertgebouw and the Royal Philharmonic Society's award for best chamber music ensemble.
