Berlioz - Grande Messe Des Morts archiveA work of magnificent ambition and scale performed in a similarly epic venue, the Royal Albert Hall, on Remembrance Sunday. Berlioz's Grande messe des morts, or Requiem, was written to commemorate the fallen in the 1830 Revolution, and was a huge success at its 1837 premiere. Fran?ois-Xavier Roth, a favourite of London audiences, marshals the colossal choral and orchestral forces for what is bound to be an unmissable event.
