The return by popular demand of one of the country's best-loved institutions. The BBC Big Band can be heard every Monday evening on Radio 2, recreating the authentic sounds of the 20s and 30s with music from the big band era and beyond. BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year award-winner, Clare Teal, joins the acclaimed BBC Big Band for a celebration of the legendary leading ladies of the Big Band stage including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Doris Day, Judy Garland, Peggy Lee and their glamorous contemporaries. Enjoy the classic songs that made them stars, such as Fascinatin' Rhythm, That Old Black Magic, Sentimental Journey, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, The Folks Who Live on the Hill, The Trolley Song and many more. With plenty of popular Big Band hits from the groups that the divas loved to work with, including Artie Shaw, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, this is an evening of feel-good music inspired by the most glamorous women in Jazz.
