Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band archiveAcker Bilk formed the Bristol Paramount Jazz Band in 1951 and hit jazz records soon followed such as Summer Set and Creole Jazz. Then in 1961 he recorded the hit that is now synonymous with his name Stranger on the Shore. In May 1997 Stranger on the Shore was No 3 in the all-time top 100 chart.
