Details
In a programme taking its inspiration from Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, a carefully constructed evening has been created to evoke the extraordinary atmosphere of St Mark's Basilica at Christmas time in Renaissance Venice, at that time one of the most powerful cities of the world. Featuring spectacular poly-choral works, including music in 16 different parts, no one will leave in any doubt as to how Venice secured the phenomenal reputation for music-making that has lasted over four centuries.
