Details
Welcome to a series of live personal interviews with leading lights of the theatre world, in which they talk about the songs that inspire them and the work they do, with live performances of some of the songs they choose. Nicholas Hytner is Artistic Director of the National Theatre, a post he has held since 2003. Before taking over the National, his productions there included Carousel (that transferred to the West End and Broadway's Lincoln Center), Alan Bennett's version of The Wind in the Willows and Bennett's The Madness of George III (subsequently on film as well). Since becoming Artistic Director, he has also directed Bennett's The History Boys (subsequently also on film) and The Habit of Art, as well as many other productions including most recently Hamlet with Rory Kinnear in the title role. Other directorial credits include Miss Saigon (West End, Broadway and worldwide) onstage, and The Crucible (starring Daniel Day-Lewis) on film.
