The question of whether we are alone in the solar system, galaxy or universe is one that grips humanity. One of the starting points in the search for extraterrestrial life, is to examine how and where life arose on Earth, and the types of conditions in which life survives. We can then look for where similar environments might exist on other bodies, either now or in the past. Tonight's speaker, Dr Monica Grady, is renowned for her work on meteorites and is the head of the Petrology and Peteoritics division in the Department of Mineralogy at The Natural History Museum. She is one of the world's experts in the study extraterrestrial life and is the author of Search for Life. In the chair is the Daniel Glaser, last year's ICA Scientist in Residence.
