Prospero, Duke of Milan archiveProspero, Duke of Milan tells the story of what happens in Milan to Prospero and his daughter, Miranda, before they arrive on the island where Shakespeare's The Tempest takes place. This is a development of last year's relaxed performances of Prospero, Duke of Milan when Firebird devised the story for young people and children who may not have visited the theatre before. For these shows, Bristol's Firebird Theatre has worked with Mark Lawrence, the Kennet and Avon Bellringers and local school children to create a production that remains true to Shakespeare's back story of The Tempest; it is also acts as an introduction to the full play. Prospero, Duke of Milan uses original music, an active audience and ensemble performance to create a production that is suitable for an audience from 8 to 80+ years.
