A programme of stunning new work from four dance artists. To Be Me - A new dance work in progress, based on the story of the mythical character Tiresias, with poems by Kate Tempest from the publication ?Hold Your Own'. Appearing in Greek Mythology as the blind prophet Tiresias was born a man and, following and encounter with two snakes is transformed into a woman by the gods, Hera and Zeus. Seven years on and a second encounter with the snakes, Tiresias is transformed once again into a man. Hera, enraged by Zeus, rips Tiresias' eyes from his head. Zeus, in sympathy, gives Tiresias the power of insight. Tiresias lives the rest of his life as prophet and is found in the myths Antigone, and Oedipus. To Be Me is a work for two people and explores gender, identity and the changing self. Ballet of the Unseen - A new dance-drama by dance artist Charlotte Jarvis, confronts the confusion of our times, the lost values and rites. The world builds and grows on unstable foundations. Can we give vision to our greater future? Can we listen to nature? Can we transform our fatal errors? The dream is for all art to return to the mother. To see the unseen, the suffering, the joys. To start a new dance across the aching world choreographed by the spirit of integration and renewal. Between - a duet that transports the watcher on a journey through the specific physical and sonic landscape it creates. The choreographer plays with the dancers as protagonists, shifting the perspective from traveler to passer by. They meet briefly, crossing paths, like a glimpse you might catch of a stranger from the window of a train. ?Between' offers the possibility for the audience to experience the fluid and transitory nature of traveling; the encounters and impressions gleaned from two individuals and the stories their bodies tell along the way. The music for ?Between' was composed specially by sound artist Jan Hendrickse. Unknown - A new piece from former Principal Dancer with Scottish Ballet. It is said that creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties. I sometimes see life itself as a performance full of uncertainties. We breathe life into different roles and we need to do that - otherwise they will die and something in ourselves dies as well. These roles we play create conflicts, which we often fear. But taking risks and accepting the possibility of failure is an inescapable part of the performances of our lives. The experiences that result make us what we are.
