Southbank Centre will stage the UK premiere of The Oracle by acclaimed Australian choreographer Meryl Tankard, a long-time star of Pina Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal. Inspired by the groundbreaking first performance of Nijinski's choreography for Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, which caused an audience riot when first performed on 29 May 1913, The Oracle will mark this centenary when it comes to London direct from a US tour. This sensual and intense dance work, featuring soloist Paul White, explores the conflicting forces of nature and man, masculinity and femininity, violence and nurture, strength and vulnerability.
