A showcase of performances from the Linbury Studio Theatre of the Royal Opera House. 'Firsts is an exciting mix of contemporary dance, theatre and music performed by the UK s most dynamic emerging artists. Collectif / Instants - AN ROH2 FIRSTS COMMISION - Based on the Jorge Luis Borges poem of the same name, this commission will feature breathtaking aerial work alongside live beatbox and music. S/HE - SMALLPETITKLEIN - Smallpetitklein’s new dance piece S/HE, by award-winning choreographer Thomas Small, is based on the interconnected lives of two people. The performance is set to music by Michael Nyman. Tuttaposto - RACHAEL MOSSOM - Tuttaposto is a playful dance piece inspired by different ways of communicating, wittily exploring a series of hand gestures and their meanings across two different cultures. Initial Side Effects - dANTE OR dIE THEATRE - A new, playful and provocative piece of dance-theatre that explores how and why people take their medicine and why they don’t take it, and the ‘side effects’ resulting from such action or non-action. Side Effects is a unique collaboration between dANTE OR dIE Theatre and The School of Pharmacy which will be developed into a full length production in 2011.
