I Am Getting There archiveFrom the writer and producer of Love Sax and that Jazz comes Alan Charles 1998 musical comedy stage play I am Getting There. The play tells the story of a young man with a malign and rather dubious past. Having missed his train, the young man is invited to board the Inter-Life Shuttle (the church) which is destined for the kingdom (heaven). Once on board he is exposed to the obstacles, hurdles and milestones that the Glory Bound Train passengers must tackle and overcome. It's a hard and tiresome journey and he has his own personal battle to fight, namely to secure the right to stay on board the Glory Bound Train. His predicament arises from the fact he was found travelling without a valid ticket (a good Christian life). Subsequently the powers that be seek to get him expelled from the train/church. It's then that the young man must prove that though he's not where he should be, with God's grace he is getting there. - Can he convince the court that he is worthy? - Is he really getting there? - Will the train get there? Through songs, poetry, rap, drama and dance, the Glory Bound Train will take you on an experience of a lifetime and a journey you will never forget.
