Illythia, Eastern Europe, towards the end of World War II. Hugo, an enthusiastic and idealistic young Party member, has been ordered to assassinate a traitor to the Party, Hoederer. Crime Passionnel (Les Mains Sales) is both a political tale of power struggles between corrupt parties and the dramatisation of Sartre's groundbreaking philosophical beliefs. As its heart, shot though with fear, lust, jealousy and love, lie the personal stories of Hugo and his wife Jessica.
