Tony falls in love with Julie. Julie falls in love with Tony. But theirs is a relationship beset with difficulties. He is a young professional with a public-school education; she is working class, a barmaid in a back-street pub. Seemingly mismatched and fighting against the hidden prejudices which still persist in our society, as exemplified by the attitudes of their friends, can their love survive? And if so, at what price? Shards of Glass is a contemporary take on the star-crossed lovers theme. Very funny and deeply moving.
