South Yorkshire. The under-the-radar economy is run by the local heavies - the Jakes' family. Toby-Dog-Savage is a coming-of-age story about Toby, aged 17, growing up in the shadow of his ex-boxer father, amid the thwarted dreams of his mother and within a society where violence gets you respect. Laced with dark humour, dog fighting and moments of fantasy, Toby-Dog-Savage exposes how violence can be inherited, often learnt and sometimes nurtured.
