"There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England...England...England..." - Rupert Brook's famous line swells into a terrace chant. Three yobs pose with a Union Jack flagpole before exploding into dynamic physical theatre to the stains of arch-louts, The Sex Pistols. For the next half hour we get into their shaved heads and see the world through their red, white and blue blinkers. The piece is set during the running riots in Dusseldorf during the European football championship in 1988. This intensely authentic and intelligent portrayal of the reasoning behind three English football supporters, defending the realm at the match in Germany, avoids the cliches and sensationalism and provides an entertaining and profound socio-political comment.
