"How the match blazed and burned! It gave out a warm, bright flame like a little candle, as she held her hands over it. A wonderful little light it was." A little girl walks barefoot through the streets of a village, offering her matches to passers-by. Frozen from the cold, she rests in a nook and strikes a match to keep warm. Dancing in the light of the flame are her memories, her imagination, her story. Meanwhile, deep in the snowy forests of Denmark, wayward travellers are telling stories too. Stories to warm the heart and strengthen the soul. Stories that stretch the imagination far and wide - stories that might just keep the little match girl alive...
